OUR MISSION

The Camden International Film Festival (CIFF) is committed to supporting and generating interest in independent documentary films. The annual festival presents a snapshot of the cultural landscape through the year’s best non-fiction storytelling, connecting filmmakers with eager audiences and industry representatives to discuss documentary film as an art form, a catalyst for change and as an outlet for the independent voice.

The 5th Annual Camden International Film Festival will take place from October 1st - 4th, 2009, screening the best international documentary film to audiences in venues throughout Midcoast Maine.

about-ciff-org

The Camden International Film Festival is a grass-roots community based organization created in 2004 to support and generate interest in independent documentary films through an annual film festival and screening series on the coast of Maine. The festival exists through community involvement and support and is dedicated to encompassing all that is independent.

In just four short years, over 100 documentary films, both features and shorts, and 50 regional premiers from over 20 countries have been screened in beautiful and unique venues in Camden, Rockport and Rockland, Maine. Screenings are followed by intimate Q&A sessions with directors and industry professionals. Festivities over the weekend also include a course through the University of Maine, panels, workshops, photographic exhibits, musical concerts and parties.

The CIFF experience is based around the filmmaker-audience interaction. We pride ourselves on creating a platform for filmmakers to share their work in front of eager audiences in state of the art theatres, while also providing our keen audiences with an unparalleled opportunity to connect with independent filmmakers.

Each year our festival grows, but the CIFF experience remains the same. We highlight the industry’s emerging talent, paying homage to the year’s best documentary films, allowing our audiences the opportunity to experience thought-provoking and insightful documentary cinema that offers a unique or unheard perspective on our world.

FEEDBACK

The Camden International Film Festival is a small, rare gem of an event on the festival circuit. I've told many people they should keep an eye on this festival- I expect it to be a growing force and increasingly important to independent moviemakers.
